What I can do for a battleship theme?

I am the last year of high school, and like most older people do we can return. Homecoming is like a stroll through the museum mainly. Every year has its own theme and the elderly are games. My group chose battleship (not our first choice ... someone who I thought my friend took our idea of Candyland.) Anywayz, we break ground and yet sweet, our project looks good. So I need ideas of what we could do to be foolproof. We have a 7 feet wide by 8 feet long space use. There is no height limit ... the deadline is ceiIing which is like a million feet long. I wanted to build a wooden boat ... but this takes too much money. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. To get the creative juices flowing, we have already decided that we want to cover the back wall and the floor with a grid like pattern (like the battleship board) to be in 3D.
